Peoples’ view of the world is significantly different; your view about life is probably not same as mine and so it is for others. The more you explore, the more you know.  There are some weird, fun, interesting and shocking facts about life that probably most people don’t know about or don’t believe actually exist. But down here, I have coupled together the 25 shocking facts about life that seem strange and weird.

  1. Men can get erections after death:

Yes they can also ejaculate. That shocks, isn’t it? It’s called Priapism, this happens mostly to the corpse of men who have died by hanging which is due to the pressure created on the cerebellum by the noose.

  1. High heels weren’t originally designed for women:

Though today, it is the women thing, and it will look very weird seeing a man on  high heels. These were first designed for men as they were seen as being virile and masculine and also a great way to boost men height a few inches in the 16th century according to J. Paul Getty Museum.

  1. Robots run the Mars:

There are many actions happening in the Mars with a population made up entirely of robots. Yet, the planet has no known alien life.  These robots include Odyssey and Reconnaissance Orbiter. Curisity Rover

The horned lizard fends off predators by freaking them with the blood squirted out of its eyes into the mouth of a coyote or similar predator as a defense. The blood tastes disgusting and looks pretty gross too, which mostly will make the predator lose interest in preying the lizard. BBC News

About 500 people are killed by hippos each year which is far higher than the annual deaths attributed to predators like sharks (4-6 a year), lions (20-25 a year) and wolves (8-10 a year). Despite being herbivores, hippos are aggressive and territorial, and are considered the most dangerous animal in Africa. Source

An acronym is a word formed from the initials of other words. Therefore, the word “radar actually stands for “radio detection and ranging”. In the 1930s, this Technology was developed and the word “radar” was invented in the year 1942. Source

In history, 295 total numbers of people have died climbing the Mountain. Most of the dead bodies are still on the mountain, since bringing them down is too dangerous and demanding. This made some bodies to have been there for decades. Many have been used as trail markers and have been given nicknames by other climbers. Source

American man Robert Wadlow happens to be the known human ever to live and was nearly 9 feet tall which is the tallest man’s height ever recorded. He died in 1940 at the age of 22, due to complications from the enlarged pituitary gland that gave him his height. Source

The genetic differences between individual humans aren’t very significant. Only 01% of human DNA shows significant variation from one person another. We share more genes with other species too, about 90% of human DNA is shared with house cats and 61% is shared with fruit flies. Source

  1. Rat can laugh:

Rats emit high-pitched calls when they are playing even have tickle skin or parts of their body that make them laugh when touched. This puts them in a unique category with primates, dogs and dolphins, which are the only species known to laugh. Source

  1. Most people can survive for up to 2 months without eating, but people can only live up to 11 days without sleeping. Source
  2. Dead pregnant women can give birth:

This is called Coffin Birth and it’s a phenomenon that occurs when a pregnant woman delivers a child after her death spontaneously. This happens due to gases that build up in the abdominal area, putting pressure on the mother’s uterus and forcing the baby out the birth passageway. Though this is rare to happen or probably doesn’t really happen anymore, due to the modern embalming techniques. Source

Pluto measures 2,370 km across while Australia measures 4,000 km diameter. This shows that Australia is almost as big as twice of Pluto. Source

  1. An Octopus has three hearts:

Two of their hearts work for the circulation of the blood past the octopus’ gills and the third keep the blood moving through its organs. But the third heart stops beating while the animal swims, this is why they tend to crawl rather than to swim. Source

  1. Snakes can sense approaching earthquake:

Some snakes can predict earthquakes from up to 75 miles away, and as much as 5 days in advance. Coming tremors make the snakes behave erratically, throwing themselves into walls and leaving their dens in winter. This was discovered by Jiang Weisong, the director of Nanning’s earthquake bureau.   1. Footprints left on the moon’s surface will last for million years:

Since the moon doesn’t have an atmosphere, there’s no wind and it doesn’t rain to clear away anything left on the surface. Source

  1. Grapes can kill dog:

Grapes can cause a serious kidney failure in both canines and felines which can eventually lead to their death. Though just one grape or raisin isn’t likely to kill your dog, they can get very ill from a surprisingly small amount. It has not been discovered, the exact compound in grapes causing this reaction.   1. The sense of fear can be removed surgically:

The surgical procedure is known as a selective amygdalohippocampectomy which removes half of patient’s amygdala, which is the source of visceral emotions. Patients no longer feel fear after the process. Source
