Iconic Footballers That Missed 2022 World Cup Tournament

The year 2022 world cup tournament started with the hosting country Qatar against Ecuador on Sunday, dated 20th of November 2022, seems to be a notable one with number of star football players missing the tournament and Qatar’s religious related rule that shun drinking of alcohols (bear) at the tournament. Although they are much more of young rising star footballers that were welcomed to the tournament; while some debuted, others returned. However, with the famous players we expected to be on the pitch to make the tournament more pleasuring to watch been necessarily ruled out due to, some not qualified and others been injured made it a concern for many. Nevertheless, we still had the GOATS on the pitch (Messi and Ronaldo) though that might mark their last world cup.

Although the Senegal iconic football player Sadio Mane didn’t play at Qatar due to injury even though FIFA hoped his home land spiritual leaders could heal him or quicken his recovery from the injury before world cup as reported by goal.com. However, Mane still made appearances at Qatar.

Is that the last world cup for the GOATS? This could undoubtedly be the last world cup for Messi and Ronaldo since their ages might hinder their appearance in the next world cup. Although Neymar Jr is younger than both Ronaldo and Messi, he already hinted that could be his last world cup tournament.
