About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join a specialist ophthalmology team delivering high-quality eye care services within the community. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a modern clinical environment focused on patient-centred care and positive outcomes.
You will play a key part in supporting both patients and clinical staff across various stages of treatment, including pre-operative preparation, surgical assistance, and post-operative care.

We are an independent provider of NHS ophthalmic services, delivering advanced eye care outside of traditional hospital settings. With a strong focus on innovation, we aim to improve access to treatment and reduce waiting times for patients requiring procedures such as cataract surgery.
Since our establishment in 2007, we have expanded our services and continue to grow across the UK. Our offerings include cataract procedures, laser treatments, glaucoma care, oculoplastic services, and general ophthalmology.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out pre-operative assessments and support patients through the consent process
- Assist with patient discharge, including providing aftercare guidance and arranging follow-up appointments
- Manage patient flow during clinics and surgical sessions to minimise waiting times
- Support clinicians during consultations and procedures, including preparing equipment and maintaining accurate records
- Assist within the operating theatre environment, including supporting surgical procedures and ensuring equipment is properly prepared and maintained
- Participate in end-of-day administrative and clinical tasks, including updating records and maintaining a clean and organised workspace
- Contribute to patient safety by reporting incidents and supporting quality improvement processes
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in a healthcare or optical setting is essential
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain information clearly
- Comfortable handling detailed or technical information
- Flexible and adaptable approach to work
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Professional and confident manner, both in person and over the phone
- High level of integrity, discretion, and respect for patient confidentiality
